The Kingdom and the King
Mar 12, 2025 • Jesus M. Ruiz
We begin this series by exploring the biblical concept of a kingdom, contrasting it with modern understandings of government. We highlight how God initially intended humanity (Adam) to have dominion as beings created in His image, rather than a single earthly ruler holding absolute power. We discuss how the idea of a human king did not arise from God, but from the people's desire to be like other nations. Despite warning them of the burden of the king they desire, He allowed it, but it was never His initial desire. Ultimately, God's desire was for a kingdom of priests, emphasizing service and relationship with Him, and affirming His ultimate ownership and authority over all creation.
