Kingdom of Priests
Apr 16, 2025 • Jesus M. Ruiz
We explore the biblical concept of priesthood, beginning with God's intention for humanity. Humans were initially created in God's image meant to represent God's presence and rule within the sacred space of Eden. The text examines the roles of Adam and Eve in the garden as priestly figures, connecting the terms "work" and "keep" to temple service. It further analyzes ancient Near Eastern cultures' understanding of royal representatives mirroring their deities to contextualize humanity's divine image. All of this is presented to challenge us to realize or primary purpose in life is represent God on earth, being made in His image and likeness as living image, unlike the images of carved wood or stone.
