Why Did He Become King?

May 28, 2025    Jesus M. Ruiz

We examine the concept of kingship in biblical history, presenting figures such as Joseph and David as examples or "types" that foreshadow a future king. Highlighting the covenant with David, which promises an everlasting kingdom, we explore scriptural references from pagan kings, prophets, and angels who prophesied or declared of this enduring dominion.

Identifying and recognizing God as king evolves over the course of time. It pivots, beginning with David, who recognized God as the ultimate King. We further explore why God became king and how Jesus became the fulfillment of this kingly role, emphasizing His lineage from David, His humility in taking human form, and the price He paid to be crowned King, ultimately culminating in His crucifixion.
